Our Story
Conceived in 2007, entrepreneur and East Nashville resident David Mitchell saw the need for a full service delicatessen whose cornerstone would be the use of high quality, natural ingredients. Extending this idea by working with local purveyors, Mitchell’s business plan came to fruition as “Mitchell Delicatessen” in March of 2008. It is seated in Riverside Village, a burgeoning retail community in Mitchell’s own neighborhood.
Local residents responded quickly, and the first day Mitchell was open for business, the delicatessen ran out of food! Humbled by the immediate response to his business, Mitchell adjusted to the high customer demand and began concentrating on the quality of his products and his loyal customer base. This effort was repaid in its first year of business when Mitchell Delicatessen was voted “Best Sandwich” in the Nashville Scene’s annual “Best Of” poll.
Now in their second year of business, Mitchell Delicatessen continues to offer its customers high quality deli meats, cheeses, local produce, and handmade products such as house made roast beef, sausage, and prepared salads. The deli is also proud to offer East Nashville’s only self-serve salad bar, critically acclaimed Benton’s bacon and Silke’s Old World Breads!
