Our Story

David MitchellMitchell Delicatessen first opened its doors in 2008. The idea was simple: provide East Nashville with a full service delicatessen that only uses the highest quality, natural ingredients from local sources. This idea immediately resonated with local residents, so much so in fact, that the first day Mitchell’s was open for business the delicatessen ran out of food! Humbled and amazed by this enthusiastic response we immediately adjusted to the higher demand and began working furiously on expanding our menu and making our products even better. This effort was almost immediately repaid in our first year in business when Mitchell Delicatessen was voted “Best Sandwich” in Nashville Scene’s annual “Best Of” poll.

Now in our fourth year in business, things couldn’t be going any better. Our sandwich line is busy as ever before and Mitchell Delicatessen’s reputation for the best sandwich in Nashville just keeps spreading. Of course we’ve continued to offer our customers the highest quality ingredients. Most of our meat selection is cured or smoked in house and we handmake our own sausages and roast beef. We also offer critically acclaimed Benton’s bacon. If you’ve never tried Benton’s bacon, well, you’re missing out to say the least. We offer cheeses, dairy, and fresh fruit and vegetables from local farms. And to top it off, we offer East Nashville’s only self-serve salad bar.
